What do they look for in a government job background check

What do they look for in a government job background check?

Depending on the type of position you are applying for and what type of security clearance you will be given there are many different things an employer will check before they finally offer you the position. Basic things are criminal background check, credit check and driving records. A credit check is important if you will be working within a financial department of an agency. Some agencies require a more in depth background check which includes interviews with former employers, teachers, neighbors, friends and immediate family members. The best thing to do is to be completely honest on your application. Disclose everything as an employer will find out after processing a background check and even a minor implication that is revealed that you did not put on your application could disqualify you from the job.
